If you pay attention to the real estate market, you will hear a lot of talk about being in a “buyer’s market” or a “seller’s market.” A buyer’s market implies that the process benefits the buyer, and a “seller’s market” gives the advantage to the seller.

There is a lot of short-term truth to viewing the world through this lens, but experience has taught me that the most important market is the owner’s market. From the perspective of a home buyer or seller, the advantage lasts as long as the transaction; which can be days or weeks.

An owner’s market begins as soon as you own a home, and the advantages are counted in years and decades. Rarely do you hear someone say, “I wish I didn’t buy my home 10 years ago.”The important thing is having a home you love and that builds equity, so the advantage is always yours. The next time you hear someone talking about the real estate market, think of me and remember I am here for you during every real estate season and cycle.
